I'm appalled by the news, doctors being forced to perform abortions. So the ones looking to kill the child have a choice but the doctors (apparently are less than human) have no rights? Talk about double standards. In the comments someone said something I wholeheartedly agree with:
"I can't see this as being about meeting the patients' needs but about either:
1) a handful of people in a position of power who want to push their own beliefs about abortion and gays (and who knows what other issues?) down the throats of all others. (There are enough pro-abortion and pro-gay physicians around to meet the needs of those who want their services.)
or 2) just another push towards justifying getting rid of our free health care and bringing in private health care (that we will have to pay for)."
Let us pray for our brothers and sisters in Canada.

That is very sad to hear. I have been praying for that little girl. I believe she is living even more now, since all live to God (Luke 20:38).
It can be scary to think about all the bad news about health care in Ontario. But don't fear:
"The LORD is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
The LORD is my helper;
I shall look in triumph on those who hate me.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man."
And on the other hand, I am going to be praying for this situation. I did not know about it until now that you wrote of it. Thanks, let's keep praying.

That little girl was so beautiful, I'm sad to hear the news. (But rejoicing that she is with the Savior now.)
Wow, I was shocked to read about what may be law for doctors in Ontario soon. I'm in Ontario, and I hadn't heard that. Horrible. I'll be praying.

Steph can I ask you something, what are the difficulties you deal with as a Christian in Canada because I've heard some pretty sad stories about how Christians are practically sidelined and gays and lesbians elevated?

Unless you know all the facts on the atheist gang, you should not come to their defense. You have no idea of why they are on the DHS watch list. They are on there for a good reason.
Turning the other cheek does not apply to these issues. Believe me!

Rita, that's a bit of a difficult question to answer because I'm not sure how to compare what's the norm here with what belivers are facing in other parts of the world. (What I'm not aware of, that is)
Concerning the gay lifestyle, I'm not sure what it's like in the D. R., but here it's seen as perhaps the worst "intolerence" of all to ever say anything against this lifestyle. Homosexual marriage is legal, it's seen as a perfectly healthy thing for a gay couple to raise a child together (even praised) and even schools work to educate children to be accepting of this.
It's actually quite sad - I recently read on Tim Challies' blog (maybe you saw the article?) about a popular christian artist who recently "came out" and is now claiming that he's happier and feels closer to God since he's now "accepting who God made him to be" (gay).
And it does often seem that any religion or belief system BUT Christianity is okay here, but I think that is because we actually declare (gasp!) that Christianity is the ONLY way to God.
What a depraved society! Hope all that answers your question a bit!
Terry, thanks for your comments as for the loose accusations, they weren't loose accusations I read what I read I was most definitely not defending the atheists, I was defending Christ's image as we are to behave unlike the world behaves. But whatever happened is between you and the Lord, I was trying to be helpful.

Over here its not like that at all, because we are a catholic nation somewhat, things like homosexuality and abortion even among unbelievers (who consider themselves catholic, whatever that means) is considered as sinful or bad, an abomination even. Its only because of the influence the US has on our country that people have been more accepting of homosexuals, but its usually among the young adults and adolescents.

I heard this story on way of the master radio, I was not surprised, when you don't have a biblical worldview its expected you come up with conclusions such as those. It both frustrates and saddens me.

I few years ago I remember having a conversation with my wife about why I did believe christians will stop being persecuted because of how open minded was the world becoming, and non religious people where accepting christians around the world.
Obviously, I was wrong. It took me reading my Bible, and some other books, plus seeing the world around me to understand how wrong I was, and how right my wife was (she loves when I admit I am wrong).
Every time that we as christians stand firm in what the Word of God teach us and required from us, we will be persecuted. In our school, job, family, friends, etc.
God has not promise us that we will not be persecuted, but that HE will be with us always.
May God give us the strength and grace necessary for us to stand firm in proclaiming his truth, and living his Word, no matter where we are, in front of whom we are, or the dangers of loosing our lives we face.
For HIS glory.
